On April 13, 2016, after a six-day trial, a Philadelphia jury awarded the plaintiffs $6,489,265.14, with the husband awarded $5,189,265.14 for his pain and suffering, medical expenses and past wages and his wife awarded $1,250,000 for loss of consortium.

The only remaining defendants at trial were John Crane Inc. and Brand Insulations. John Crane Inc. made no offer to settle the matter and Brand Insulations made a nominal offer.

The plaintiff was diagnosed with lung cancer in both lungs on November 12, 2013 as a result of his exposure to asbestos during his employment for PECO.
