The family of the late Raymond Hutchins, Jr. filed suit claiming his work for a shipbuilding company put him in close proximity to repair work conducted by Dixie Machine & Welding Company where his family alleges that he was exposed to asbestos. Mr. Hutchins died of malignant mesothelioma. Dixie Machine filed to have the claim dismissed before any before Hutchins’ family could have a full discovery investigation. The defendants requested was denied and the investigation was permitted to move forward
