Even If Your Asbestos Exposure Was Decades Ago, It Is Not Too Late to File a Claim

Symptoms of and diseases caused by asbestos exposure may not arise until decades later. In 2012, a Pennsylvania couple filed an asbestos mass tort claim for injuries sustained as a result of the husband’s asbestos exposure that began in the 1950s. Some important aspects of this case include the following:

  • The plaintiff worked as a boiler tender for the U.S. Navy from 1955 to 1958 as a machine operator and in shipping and receiving for various companies from 1958 to 1968. He also worked as a truck driver and warehouse manager for Scranton Tobacco from 1963 to 1993.
  • The plaintiff was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2010.

This case is typical of claims that arise from asbestos exposure. The disease and its symptoms can take anywhere from 20 to 50 years to show up and be detected. Our firm has recently signed up two asbestos victims who have contracted mesothelioma whose exposure to asbestos occurred in the 1940s and 1950s.
