It has been generally known that plumbers are at greater risk to contract mesothelioma because of their exposure to asbestos products. Their proximity to asbestos in cement pipes, pipe wrap insulation and joint compound puts them at increased risk.

In a recent case the family of the late plumber Robert Swanson were awarded $5 million in compensation from boiler manufacturer Marley-Wylain Company, which produced the boilers Swanson installed and during which he was frequently exposed to asbestos.

• Asbestos-containing tools (cement, gaskets, welding rods, and more)
• Asbestos dust and asbestos fibers (released from pipes, insulation, and asbestos paper, and more)”
